Oatmeal Dog Treats

Dog biscuits, take 2. After my first successful experiment, and because I was visiting Toffi, a friends’ dog (and his masters), I thought of trying a new recipe. So for this fall-winter collection of dog treats, please welcome on the catdogwalk the oh-so-fashionable oatmeal bunnies, a.k.a. the “it” doggy biscuits.

Totally a must-have, dahling. Forget leopard-print.

Toffi, who likes to sport an effortlessly dishevelled, boho chic style, loves their almost naturalistic rabbit shape and light bacon flavour.

Mix 1 cup oatmeal and 1 cup flour (wheat, rye), a tbsp of sugar, a tbsp or two of bacon fat (ie what’s left in the pan after you’re done with your own breakfast), and slowly add about 1/2 cup of milk, lightly kneading the dough until it coalesces. Don’t overwork. Wrap the ball of dough in clingfilm, and place it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to let it firm up. Roll it out to 1/4 inch thickness, cut into rabbit shape (or elephants), and bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.  Wait before they’ve cooled down before you pander to your best friend.

Anyone else here addicted to the adobe desat/history brush tool combo? I need help.

Ok, and now, back to human food, perhaps?
